Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) Access

Connect to Windows virtual machines using Remote Desktop Protocol.

Prerequisites​

  • Windows VM with RDP enabled
  • VM's IP address
  • Windows credentials
  • VPN connection

Connecting from Windows​

  1. Open Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc.exe)
  2. Enter IP address: 10.x.x.x
  3. Click Connect
  4. Enter username and password
  5. Click OK

Connecting from macOS​

  1. Download Microsoft Remote Desktop from App Store
  2. Click + Add PC
  3. Enter PC name (IP address)
  4. Add user account
  5. Connect

Connecting from Linux​

Install Remmina:

sudo apt install remmina remmina-plugin-rdp
  1. Open Remmina
  2. Click + to add connection
  3. Protocol: RDP
  4. Server: VM IP address
  5. Username and password
  6. Save and connect

Troubleshooting​

  • Ensure RDP is enabled in Windows VM
  • Check Windows Firewall allows RDP (port 3389)
  • Verify VPN connection
  • Try different RDP client
